 at Crosby Beach in Merseyside has been undergoing vital maintenance work. One hundred cast-iron sculptures were installed in 2005, spread across 3km of the beach and stretching almost 1km out to sea. Originally intended as a temporary installation, some of the works had begun sinking into the sand and disappearing. The challenging operation to restore and reset the works has recently been completed, and they have now been fitted with stronger and deeper plinths so they can continue to stand tall for many years to come.
