‘The Lie of the Land’ by The Voice Project at Houghton Hall
The Lie of the Land is inspired by, and responds to, Antony Gormley’s installation Time Horizon at Houghton Hall. With music created by Jonathan Baker, Sian Croose and Orlando Gough, the performance will be set amongst the 100 life-size sculptures distributed across the park. It will feature their open-access choir of over 100 singers together with Voice Project soloists Jeremy Avis, Lisa Cassidy, Sharon Durant and instrumentalist Adrian Lever.
Antony Gormley: ‘If Time Horizon at Houghton Hall is an attempt to turn this magnificent ensemble of a humanly made landscape and house into a reflexive field then The Voice Project offers an opportunity to create an unique acoustic field. I have previously collaborated with filmmakers, musicians and dancers but this will be the first time a supporting cast of 100 individuals have given their voice to my otherwise still, silent works.’
