The Model Room On Display At Tate Britain
The Model Room was acquired by Tate following its inclusion in the exhibition Model at White Cube Bermondsey in 2012. The installation will be on long-term display in a dedicated gallery as part of Tate’s series of regularly changing collection displays which cover the historical breadth of the collection and a variety of media. The Model Room highlights Antony Gormley’s radical approach to the ‘body as place’ and his interest in replacing anatomy with architecture.
He describes The Model Room as ‘a laboratory of possibility, showing the ways in which ideas cross-fertilise and produce ever more vigorous hybrids. It gives an insight into the workings of the studio as an open-ended exploratory playground in which space and object become interchangeable.’
