Chair (1987-88), an early work by Antony Gormley, was included in the group exhibition Edge Of The Seat: The Artist's Chair. A staple of the studio, artists since Van Gogh have frequently seen in their chairs an element of themselves. Whether read as self-portraiture or formal, this exhibition looked at the ways a range of contemporary artists have acquisitioned, customised, or re-created the chair in their practice.
