 was to find an element or tool relating to the body that had a pure geometry which, when linked, could create lines, arches, rings and spheres or other shapes, using a criss-cross ‘basketweave’ assembly. The polycarbonate and resin elements made for 

 turn drawing into a physical form, one that can bring about different bodily reactions.

Moving from frame to tool to independent object in a variety of iterations, the idea was to allow the dancers both to extend 

 amplify their natural movement through the weight and extension of these ‘whippy stick’ elements; to be able to make a variety of architectures from loops, hoops and continuous lines that would link bodies as well as enclose them.

Each of my collaborations with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui have resulted in a different form that has given a certain syntax to the dance. With 

, I have tried to liberate the line, itself, so that it is both rigid and dynamic. The potential evolutions of the dance come out of the interaction between time, space and body through the agency of these instruments.
